English Language Learners (ELL) Program

ABOUT US: 

Of the seven continents on Earth, the Chariho Regional School District has been privileged to have welcomed students from five of those continents.  Currently, 22 students are enrolled in the English Language Learners (ELL) program at Chariho, both at the elementary and secondary levels.

The native countries of our current students include:

  • Bolivia
  • Cape Verde
  • Dominican Republic
  • Jamaica
  • Poland
  • Puerto Rico
  • Philippines
  • Thailand

Chariho also is part of the South County Consortium, which is a professional organization servicing the school districts of Barrington, Chariho, East Greenwich, Exeter-West Greenwich, Narragansett, South Kingstown and Westerly.

ELL NEWS:

The 2011-12 ACCESS Language Proficiency tests are scheduled for late January.  Both the High School and Middle School are participating in the testing, as well as the following elementary schools: Charlestown, Hope Valley and Richmond.
